"About" WebMoney

By: Arthur Salnikov

Horacio Malvicino, managing director of the MBR Design Group about WebMoney and not only about it.
Just before the New Year eve the Trainex Journal reporter in New-York had a great opportunity to interview Horacio Malvicino, the managing director of the MBR Design Group. Having a registered headquarters in New York City (99-34 67th Road, Suite # 1H, Forest Hills, NY 11375; Tel: 1-786- 853-4612,www.mbrdesignusa.com, www.malvicinodesign.com ) MBR Design Group took a truly an international spin. According to Mr.Malvicino, “the company is a turn key type solution for the audio & broadcast industries. It focuses on acoustic design, system integration and studio installation of high end recording studios and broadcast facilities all over the world” - from North and South Americas to Africa, from Europe to the Middle East. MBR Design Group has built studios for such renown artists as Aerosmith, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Billy Joel in the US; Paul McCartney and Peter Gabriel in Europe. So, this man, with the broadest view angle of business from different points of our planet, is ready to tell about the global meaning of e-money at first hand. So…

TJ: Tell us a little bit about your work and how you usually handle business on your design projects.
H: Basically we meet with the client to evaluate the design intent of the project. It is a back and forth process that might resolve in a 1-2 punch, and sometimes is a long and tedious process until the client is satisfied with the final preliminary design. Then we draw a contract, get a payment advance and move into the design phase. In about a year’s time, if all goes as planned, they will be recording in the studio their next album.

TJ: Working with such international array of clients, how do you handle financial transactions?
H: This is the complicated part. Getting paid is always the hard part of the project, especially when you are dealing with an overseas client. Our first target outside the US, about 10 years ago was primarily South America. There were always certain complications, especially when it came to getting paid. The foreign exchange and the rapidly changing economy was sort of the Pandora box. Countries with unstable governments and unstable economies become a real challenge when facing projects of this kind.

TJ: Have you heard about WebMoney, the electronic payment and money transfer system?
H: Yes, and it sounds very exciting. This could actually be a great solution for a company like ours when working with an overseas client.

TJ: Why do you think WebMoney can be a choice for a company like yours with already established methods of operation and business practices?
H: The concept of a multifunctional payment tool that provides secure transaction within a reasonable time frame sounds incredible. All of those tools and the ability to have on line access make a great difference. It is a real hassle to get paid from an overseas client through wire transfer. The ability of a point two point transaction with an immediate result is the way of the future.

TJ: What do you mean by that?
H: Having access to your funds immediately after the transaction has been completed is a given gift.

TJ: What other advantages do you see?
H: In my case, when working overseas, we have an on site crew, either a construction or an installation group. These people usually receive money via wire to pay for the day to day expenses such as food, phone, and hotel. While credit cards are a real option, security and fraud is at a real max these days.

The WM Card is a great source of funding availability. We can do that for all of our employees with pre-paid WM cards. This can be done from our US office and there will be no need to use the regular corporate card that we have to provide our employees with. It is also very favorable in terms of the exchange, especially if you consider that most of credit cards in the US take a real advantage of the exchange rate when you use your card overseas.

TJ: How do you communicate with your employees while carrying out a project overseas?
H: We usually provide our employees with mobile phones while they are working abroad. Many mobile provides in Eastern Europe accept this kind of payment. We are planning to purchase local mobile telephones and pay for the actual service with WebMoney.

TJ: You probably heard about a number of recent security problems with some other electronic payment systems, is that a concern for you?
H: The fact that the WM system allows users to set their individual security preferences to ensure a high level data protection is something that pairs to the PayPal system in the US. It is really necessary when handling the type of business transactions that we usually do on a day to day basis.

TJ: Anything else you would like to add?
H: The Plati.ru site is also to keep an eye on. Look at Ebay, it’s the way of the future. If you get in early in the game, the chances of making money in this type of platform are guaranteed!!!

TJ: So, what do you think about the whole concept of incorporating electronic money as a part of your business operations?
H: The idea of doing business away from your home base is a real challenge. There are language & cultural barriers. If you add to that the fact that currency plays a vital role when conducting business anywhere, the idea of web based money is the way of the future. While the EU has adopted a single currency, the Euro, doing business in Europe has become a much easier situation.

If you look at the world as a single stage to do business, things are a lot easier now. While I understand the concern that every country has to protect its own borders, I do see the world economy as one big piece. We all add to it, and mostly we also take from it.

This whole concept of electronic money and online transfers will revolutionize the way we do business for many years. It is only a matter of time, but this world is changing at a very fast pace, and electronic money is a vital part of it, just wait.
