AARP To The Rescue With Car Insurance Discounts

By: Rob Gormly

As you approach retirement you probably want to start reducing your expenses. A good one to start with is your car insurance. AARP offers some great values for seniors. If you have a good driving record with no accidents or major traffic violations for five years, you qualify for AARP's First Accident Forgiveness program. They realize that stuff happens and we can all have a bad day. That does not mean that we instantly become bad drivers. Of course not, there is no point in penalizing us for years by raising our auto insurance rares because of one bad day. Not only that, but we can still get full auto insurance coverage with the AARP discount.

How does First Accident Forgiveness, along with a reduced deductible sound. If you keep your clean driving record you can also reduce your deductible by $150. It doesn't end there, AARP will continue reducing your auto insurance deductible until it reaches $0. That's right - ZERO DOLLARS. After all these years with a great driving record, you've proved to AARP that you are a great asset to them and they want to keep you around. It's nice to have a big company like AARP say. "Thanks for being a great client".

AARP also believes that if an accident is not you fault, you shouldn't have to pay a deductible. So that is what they do. If you are in an accident and the other driver is at fault, there is no deductible for you. They will also reward you even further if the repair is made at a shop they approve before hand.

To get this fantastic insurance coverage you first need to be a member of AARP. This auto insurance is just one of the many benefits of AARP membership. AARP is not an insurance company so they have arranged for this special coverage with The Hartford Insurance Company. You know you are in good hands with both AARP and The Hartford standing behind you.

Insurance companies can be tricky sometimes. Some will only guarantee the rate you are paying for 6 months. But with the AARP policy your are protected for 12 months. Not only that, but you can continue to renew you policy as long as you can drive and pay the premium. They can't say your a too old as long as you have a valid license.

While it is nice that AARP auto insurance offers you a break due to your age, but that is not the only discount they have to offer. If you have more than one car on your policy you may be eligible for a multi car discount. Suppose you take a defensive driving class? You can also get discounts by completing such a course. If you are safety minded ad have air bags and anti-theft systems you will also be eligible for even greater savings. .

Finally. some advantages to getting older. It's nice to know that some companies recognize our experience and safe driving history by giving us a break just when we need it as our incomes diminish. We have earned the benefit of reduced premiums by living a lifetime with safe driving records. AARP recognizes this and wants us as their customers. They know we will continue our good driving habits and be great clients for years to come. Everyone wins.
