Many top ranking executives in these companies have been fired as a result. The loss of so many long term porno biggies points to just how much of a competitive arena adult movie broadcasting has become.

Adult VOD, or Video on Demand, has the support of an overwhelming majority of the public. A main reason for this is the capability of parental restrictions to keep adult movies away from young eyes that should not be exposed to them. Because of this security feature, many people think that the possibility of government intervention to restrict the adult movies on demand is low. Playboy averages buy rates that are higher than most other operators, averaging 15 20%. However, charges for explicit shows on Playboy are actually cheaper than most other, even more erotic shows.

The industry of adult movies has become a viewer controlled business. Reports estimate that out of all of the On Demand content available, the adult movie genre generates a whopping 53% of all revenue earned, more than any other media platform. Buying or renting the adult movies online has so many advantages that even the cable channels that offer on demand are suffering.
