Android : Whats in and whats out ?

Recently, T-mobile has launched a new cell phone powered with Google android mobile platform. Android is a Linux operating system based software stack by Google for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications. Google Android phone is manufactured by HTC and it has already created hype in the market because of the brand name “Google”, it carries.

The Google phone is giving a head to head competition to Apple’s iphone. The phone is similar in size to 3G iPhone, just slightly heavier, and narrower at sides. I am going to explore the efficacy of the Google phone. This feature will be really helpful for the buyers to make appropriate decision for himself to buy Google phone or not.

Good features of Google Android Phone: The chief advantage of the phone that it is powered by an open source operating system and Google's Android is open to change by outside developers. The outside developers are able to write and submit applications to an online store run by Google.

Google phone is much appreciated by users as it has a 3.2-inch color touchscreen slides out to expose a full QWERTY keyboard. The phone weights 158 grams and equipped with distinctive features like 3.2 megapixel camera with photo-sharing capability, memory expansion up to 8 GB, Dimensions: 4.6 x 2.16 x 0.63 in, 480×320 65K color screen with battery back up 5 hour in talk time mode, 130 hour in stand by mode. The phone is equipped with 3G capability and GPS (Global Positioning System). The Google phone supports multimedia messaging.

One exclusive feature of the Google phone is that Google phones' interface Android is completely replaceable. A user can replace it with any compatible interface. G1 has a high-resolution screen, making it easier to browse websites that haven't been specifically adapted for a cellphone.

One more significant feature can be its cost; Google phone will be available in the market at genuine price of $179.

Bad features of Google Android Phone: Now, we come to some negative features or drawbacks of Google Android. The Google Phone has a very limited ability to connect to corporate email server. According to analysts, the phone does not have any extra ordinary looks to impress customers. It has more or less, the same looks as Apple’s iPhone has.

Another demerit of the phone can be absence of stereo Bluetooth and video recording. The consumer expects these basic features from a cell phone as these are very common feature that most of the cell phones today have.

If we talk about the reliability of the phone, then customers may think for a while before buying because Android is an unknown name for many people. So, consumers may hesitate to spend a large chunk of money on a new product.

Conclusion: I can conclude the feature by saying that a customer must explore the pessimistic features as well as the constructive feature of a product before spending his hard earned money.
