Biking Lose 10 Pounds in Weight and Save Hundreds In Gym Fees

So your now feel ready to lose weight. All of us do at some point and losing weight is a great way to both look sexier and feel fitter and healthier. Not only that, but you'll feel better about yourself when you can slip in to that sexy new dress or tight pair of pants and on top of that you'll have more confidence than you have had for years.

A great initial goal to set for yourself when trying to lose weight is to try and lose 10 pounds. This should be an attainable goal for almost anyone and it should not be that hard to see results pretty quickly at worse a few weeks and at best less than 2-3 weeks. You should not consider trying to lose weight any faster than this through fad diets as the weight will just come back when you stop dieting.

So how do you get started? When most people start thinking about diet's they visualise food they would not ever choose to eat and imagine exercises that involve pain and suffering.But it doesn't have to be like that.

If you're looking to lose 10 pounds while still having fun and getting some fresh air, look instead to what was probably one of your favorite childhood activities: bicycling.

One of the biggest benefits of bicyling (bike riding) is often overlooked is that a bike is one of the few items of exercise equipment that can also be a way of getting around. This is significant as one of the biggest reasons people fail to lose weight is they can't fit their exercise regimen in to their daily lives.

So finally you have made a commitment to go to the gym every day and get a gym membership at the local gym. Great idea and I am pleased you made the commitment but this is what I find happens with most people.It's Friday morning an a friend calls and asks you out for a drink but it's your gym night (never mind always tomorrow and you skip the gym) .Then one of the kids wants you to take them to football practice or swimming (never mind another time and you skip going to the gym). See what I mean?

Eventually it becomes easy to break the gym routine, because it's always going to seem like some "extra activity" that you don't always have time for and can't schedule in your weekly and daily routines.

Now lets imagine instead of joining a gym to lose 10 pounds you have either got your old bike out of the basement or invested in a nice shiny new one you decide to bike to work. While it may take a little longer to lose the weight, by biking to work you're really losing weight using no extra time at all.

If you live in the city chances are it will only take you a few extra minutes compared with travelling by car or subway. So you get a full body work out for free and it fits in to your schedule just great.

When you engage in most other forms of exercise, you're engaging in it exclusively: you're not getting anything else done when you're at the gym. With biking, on the other hand, the exercise is almost a secondary bonus to the primary function of getting somewhere you need to go. Add to this the fact that you're saving money on transportation and doing good for the environment, it's hard to argue against biking as one of the best forms of exercise.

By simply biking to and from work every day you should be able to lose 10 pounds fairly quickly without affecting your schedule too much. If your employer is a far enough distance away from you that you must drive, consider instead using a bike for errands outside of work. And if you want to really lose those 10 pounds quickly, start biking for recreation too - some weekend bike riding will do wonders for weight loss.
