One of the most common door accessories is the doorknob. There are many different types of doorknobs. There are as many doorknobs as personalities and they show the personality of a building. It is the first thing that a visitor to the building will see and is their introduction to the people who they are visiting. Homes are especially interesting as each style of architecture has a different type of doorknob.

The beauty of door knobs is that it can be used on either side of the door, thus enhancing the exquisiteness. Since we have a wide range of door knobs to choose from, you should always pick the one that’s suits your door the best, and make it look even more appealing. There are four categories of door knobs, namely entrance, privacy, dummy and passage door knobs.

Entrance doorknobs are usually installed on outside doors. These doorknobs employ keyed cylinder and have a latched mechanism. Entrance doorknobs are the sturdiest locks. Doorknobs are prepared from a wide array of materials. In the homes of old days you will get to see classical entrance doorknobs made of copper and brass. Steel and aluminum are used to make modern doorknobs.

Privacy doorknobs are for your private interiors, like your bathroom. They also employ a latching mechanism but without keyed cylinders. You will get a standard unlocking tool with this lock. These locks are often carved out of wood.

Dummy door knobs are knobs that enhance the beauty of the door, making it look very stylish. They contain no turning or locking mechanisms, and are mainly used as door handles. Dummy door knobs are unique and fashionable, thus they can be made out of a variety of materials, which synchronize with the closet or the drawers. Knobs are made of glass, wood, bone and precious metals. They can also be elaborately carved and embellished to make it look exquisite.

Passage doors knobs are knobs that do not contain locking mechanisms. They have a latch and can turn easily. These knobs are used for room doors, cupboard doors or interior doors that need a latch, but don’t require locks. Passage door knobs are generally made of wood, glass, metal and so on.

You should always trim your door, as that increases the beauty and appearance of the door. A door trim of metal, wood or border of paint can boost the value of the door, making it look very attractive. Thanks to technology you have a variety of doors trims to choose from, on the internet.
