When you wake up each morning if you have not slept well the night before your body may already feel tired and run down. Eventually as the day progresses you get more and more worn out and finally fall asleep in front of the TV. As you body starts to get older you need to make changes to your lifestyle to be able to do the things you once did.

If you enjoy a good nights sleep you'll find your mind will be work quicker and more efficiently. This will mean as a rule you'll be able to make decisions quicker and be more alert generally. When you sleep well you also give your immune system a helping hand and you'll stay healthier.

Doctors and Health Researchers have proved that a good nights sleep is essential for your health. They have discovered that when you lack sleep it reduces the growth hormones in your body, this allows changes from muscles to fat. Sleep is most important for a healthy body, but is believed at this time that exercise is even more significant. To give your health a helping hand a simple walk for a few minutes a day can work wonders.

Taking a daily walk can works miracles for you and your body. It helps give you strength, builds up muscle and is great way to cope with the daily task life throws at you. This helps you feel much less stressed and avoid depression and anxiety. The fact is not only will you feel better during the day but you will also sleep more soundly at night.

When you exercise on regular basis, a get a good nights sleep, you help improve your body's metabolism. Without the required amount of sleep, your body will constantly crave additional energy. Your body releases insulin or glucose into your bloodstream, which slows down your metabolism. This has the effect of allowing you body to gain weight, rather than control it's weight.

When you feel tired or fatigued, the last thing you feel like is doing exercise. This can lead to further health problems associated with inactivity. Sleeping properly balances out your body giving you, more energy leading to more enthusiasm for exercise and other activities expending energy and needing motivation.

What you should avoid:

In order to ensure a good nights sleep and have the energy you need during the day you should moderate or ideally avoid caffeine, nicotine, the use of toxic chemicals, prescription and non prescription drugs unless absolutely neccessary. Many of these substances will lead to insomnia.

Make an effort not to drink beverages either hot or cold after 8pm this especially important if they contain caffeine or other chemicals (which most do). Some people find a hot milk or malted drink help them sleep more soundly. I also urge you to stop smoking as this in addition to many know benefits will help you when trying to sleep.

By taking a walk every morning you will encourage your body to be energized and you'll, feel much more prepared for the day ahead. In addition an added benefit will be your joints will be more flexible and you'll become less prone to aches and pains associated with lack of mobility.

A futher added benefit of walking as a form of exercise is it is very effective at burning calories helping with keeping your body trim. Plus you'll be feeling much more alert through out the day. Intially when you start walking you should begin at a steady pace slowly adding more distance and speed to your walk as your body becomes more acustomed.

Just remember when walking that you want to work up to a steady brisk walk to make you feel like your pushing yourself but not some hard that you are out of breath. Why not take a short walk before and after meals to help you relax and ease away the tensions of the day. You'll burn calories, it will give you extra energy and relieve that stresses of the day and help you sleep at night.

If you decide to walk why not encourgage your spouse or loved one to come along as well especially at weekends and during the evenings. You'll find you can catch up about the days activities and get fit and feel younger in to the bargain.

So you've completed a good brisk walk and the temptation is to just dash back in to your daily routine. Don't do this as this can lead to serious injury or even a heart attack. The correct proocedure after any form of exercise is to complete a warm down or cool down routine. This means you let your body stabalize and your heart rate drop to a normal resting pace.

If you find you are suffering with insomnia during the night or your mind simply refuses to switch off after a busy day at work. Instead of getting up and watching the late night TV shows just sit listening to some quiet relaxing music and do a few simple stretching exercises before going back to bed.

You'll find if you take action rather than just ignore your body you will suffer less with the signs of aging and generally feel more energentic and invigorated.
