Do's and don'ts while using Clip-on Hair Extensions

By: Jessica Thomson

Get confused looking at the short hair styles the celebrities fashion in the parties and the long hair styles they put up in the movies? Initially we all think that they are gifted with a very good hair growth, something we don't have. But, the truth is something else. Even they have the same hair growth as we do, but it's the magic of the false Hair Extensions that are clipped into their hair to make them look longer and bulkier.
Earlier, it was only the stars who would clip on the hair extensions for a gorgeous look, but today it is easily available for everyone who wants to style them. There are two types of hair extensions that are available in the market today, which are-
Individual extensions: For hair that is silky, straight and slightly wavy in texture, the individual extensions are absolutely perfect and make their movement easy and also look normal along with the natural hair. They are safely tied to the base of the hair using a strong and fine thread.
Wefts: Wefts are groups of extensions that are attached to a band for use. They are heavier in comparison to the individual extensions and give a bulkier look. Thus they are used for the medium to thick hair and are weaved just under the natural hair.
With the wide variety and quality, the costs of the hair extensions also vary. For a better and more natural look, good and customized extensions should be used. To clip on the beautiful hair extensions to your hair, you require some skills and proper techniques for a more natural look. Once you have weaved in the hair extensions into your hair, some other things need to be taken care off which have been mentioned here below.
The do's:
1 Be very careful with your hair and take proper care so that the extensions can last up for at least 3 months.
2 Shampoo very carefully going in the downwards direction of your hair.
3 Gently squeeze your towel to remove the water from your hair.
4 Use a conditioner, oil or serum to condition your hair only at the edges a bit away from the base of the extensions.
5 Make sure that before brushing your hair, you run you fingers through the hair extensions and use a soft bristle brush.
The don'ts:
1 Once you have the hair extensions attached to your hair, they become a part of your hair, but one thing you should take care off is that you should never pull your hair.
2 Never apply any type of chemicals to your hair as the hair extensions might just get hard or rough causing them to look distinct from your natural hair.
3 While shampooing your hair, never wriggle the fingers against the direction of your hair in the upwards side.
4 Never dry your hair vigorously with a towel.
5 Never condition your hair at the base using conditioner, oil or serum as this might just cause the extensions to slip off from your hair.
