Dynamics GP or Great Plains Modifier and VBA

Microsoft Dynamics GP or Great Plains has a Modifier, that you can change the appearance of GP windows, add new or hide data fields or controls to the windows, make changes that affect the entire interface. The ability to add new or hide controls is most useful if you are also using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Visual Studio Tools for Microsoft Dynamics GP, or the Continuum API to extend the functionality of the accounting system.

For example, adding new data field named Viccomp that is only used for the company to the GP window. You can also change a data label named Zip Code to Postal Code, or State to Province. Font and color and other formats or characters can be changed from regular to special formats. If there are data that your company likes to hide from the user entries, a visible property can be used to change it. There are many other label and data field properties you can use.

With VBA ability that works with GP windows, even more modifications to how a window works by adding new business rules or logic it. For example, a new data field or control named ‘New Total’ can be created with the value from an addition or multiplication of other data fields. Or an existing control or data field like City can be automatically filled after the user enters the Zip Code or Postal Code. VBA can alter the flow of built-in logic and flow of GP windows.

With the ability of Modifier and VBA, there are many types of modifications and enhancements can be accomplished for the GP windows, even though Dynamics GP is already a very complete accounting software. This ability will definitely makes GP fit even better with most businesses.

All Great Plains or Dynamics GP windows and reports are ready to customize, you can use modifiers to change the appearances or values. If more advanced modification or customization is needed then VBA, Dexterity, Visual Studio Sdk are there to help. Great Plains has been in the accounting software marketing for many years, and it is one of the first software to convert to Windows environment from DOS. It is also one of the first accounting software to include the .Net in its tools, so the software has always been trying to be on top what are new with computers and operating systems.
