How I Made Fat Burning Foods Work

By: Dave Jackson

Don't you wish they would announce a super food that would be like those quickie meals on Star Trek where they would eat but never seem to gain weight? I suppose that would be engineered food that would be perfect nutritionally, but modified. Well, something as good and totally natural is available right at the local grocery. It's called fat burning foods.

Just a couple of years ago we were introduced to some foods that when you ate them, the digestion process would burn more calories than you gained by eating the food. That first sounded so far fetched that I wanted proof and to talk to someone who was actively on the program. If it worked, it would be a miracle, no? Just think - eat an apple, watch some TV, eat a cherry, read a book - life goes on.

Not to break your bubble, the whole thought that someone had found the miracle pill or food and that exercise was banished forever was a dream. Turns out, even with fat burning foods, in order to jump-start your metabolism, you need to exercise, at least moderately. Then the fat burning foods kick in and your body really does begin to lose the weight. But I wondered if I were exercising, how is this really any different than a normal diet?

There are hundreds of testimonials stating that these fat burning foods work. Right down to the best fat burning websites, all state that these foods can be used in a program with moderate exercise that will help you lose fat quickly. It's the exercise part that gets me, but I just saw a picture of me from two years ago and I know I am a candidate for the treadmill.

Here's the best way I found to see if these foods do actually work. I stayed on a strict diet of the fat burning foods and my mild exercise and measured my body fat every morning at the same time. Over the two weeks I did see a great loss in weight - for me, about 6 pounds. And I am told with increased exercise that my metabolism would have been elevated even more and I would have lost more.

Professor Michael Zemel of the University of Tennessee Nutrition and Medicine states that dairy, when used in a diet, can double weight loss when compared to a diet poor in dairy products. What happens is the calcium breaks down the fat cells and that is just a wonderful thing. So this means you need to find dairy low in fat as well. No ice cream diet here.

Similarly, foods high in carbs can actually increase fat storage on the body - but only if eaten late in the day when you can no longer work them off. A recent study of women and breakfast showed that high carb breakfasts helped lose more than 4 times the weight of women who ate practically nothing in the morning as a diet. watch your types of foods and when you eat. Don't eat late and eat every three hours or so.

And if you're wondering what those fat burning foods include, start shopping for eggplant, walnuts, limes, pineapple, mushrooms, blackberries, turnips, cherries, beans, fava beans, and lemons. Drink a few glasses of milk and you'll make Professor Zemel happy as well. Burning calories with fat burning foods is totally possible and people are using great strategies to do so.
