How to Bypass Websense

Websense is one of many Internet filters which are designed to block access to specific sites on the Internet. It is one of the most popular filters for employers, schools, libraries, and even government agencies. In the case of employers, schools, and libraries, Websense and programs like it can certainly be beneficial, as they can reduce the risk of viruses and being hacked, but they can also ban access to popular, completely respectable web sites which really do not need to be blocked. Then, too, some people simply do not like being censored, no matter how logical the reasons. And that is all right, because it is actually quite simple to completely bypass Websense and other filters like it.

To begin with, you need to find a proxy server or a web site which has the resources for circumvention. Using a secure connection and a site specializing in circumvention or a secure proxy server, you can, in effect, reach blocked sites - by proxy. There are even programs which allow people to run P2P programs and computer games.

Secondly, once you have chosen a proxy server or circumvention web site, type address of the blocked site you are trying to reach into wherever the proxy screen indicates, and it will take you to the desired web page.

There are also programs designed for circumvention available to help bypass Websense. Users can download a program like this onto their home computer. After installation and set up, most of these programs then give users a URL address which they can access from anywhere. They can then use this URL on a computer burdened with Websense and still use filtered material - by proxy, through their own computers. Of course, in order for this to work, users must leave their home computers on, with a stable connection to the Internet.
