It's just as easy to have negative thoughts as it to have positive ones. That simplistic statement was coined by a great professional boxer named Sugar Ray Robinson. While the statement may seem obvious and over simplified, the truth is that many people find positive thinking to be a difficult chore. Like a disease, negative thinking eats away the possibility of positive thinking and the beauty of life in general. For the people who choose to live life in the grasp of negativity, it becomes almost second nature to feel and think negatively. It is ironic, but these people often want to be positive, they have just stopped hoping for the best in life for feat they will achieve the worst. Self-help books will tell you that thinking negative brings about negative energy. There are several studies out now that show that positive thinking can "manifest" positive outcomes. If you are looking for ways to increase your happiness and improve your quality of life, then you must first determine if your thought pattern is part of the detriment to a better life. When life hands you lemons, do you make lemonade or do you complain about how unfair life is? If you are the person who finds the glass half empty instead of half full, then keep reading and hopefully you will find a few answers to help change your habit of negative thinking. Fear, yes fear, is at the heart of negative thinking. Fear of failure when attempting to hope and dream for the best in life. Positive thinking requires a level of the unknown that many people are uncomfortable accepting. The unknown outcome of actions, the unknown end result of the hope they have sunk so much energy into. It takes courage to believe that the best is yet to come in your life and it is this courage that births positive thinking. The other trick to positive thinking is to remain positive when you do not get the results you want. When you do not get the call back for your dream job, believe that there is another opportunity out there that may be even better than the first. Trust the positive thought that great opportunities will continue to present themselves as long as you continue to expect them. It is easier to see a great opportunity when you are looking for it than when your thoughts are caught up in the opportunity that you just missed. Our lives are so very full of things that are positive, we often become blinded to their presence. If ever someone has said the phrase, you don't know what you have until it is gone, this is exactly the thoughts that should drive your positive thinking. There are so many things in life that are positive achievements. Children, home, job, fitness, all take time and hope and they are all positive and thus hold the positive energy needed to break that negative cycle. Dread is the major energy fuel for negative thinking. If a person takes the energy spent on dread, whether dreading a duty or dreading a job, and moves that energy to positive thoughts, life is a shining experience for the change. We all have the power to create the lives we want to live and if you believe in the false negatives of life, they will drain all hopes of positivity. The very next instance where you begin to think a negative thought, step back and look at how far you have come and how far you have to go. The journey is the part of life that creates memories and these memories can be as positive as you want them to be.
