Potty Training Your Puppy

One of the first things you do with a new dog is getting your new puppy potty trained. Luckily, potty training your puppy doesn’t have to be a huge hassle. This piece will discuss a few tips on potty training your new puppy.

At first, you need to know that puppies can be alot like children and they will make a mess because they do not know any better and Don't understand their bodily urges. Your puppy Does not intend to make a mess on your nice rug; he just doesn't know that he has to go potty.

The ability to notice their need to go outside as they get older, much like kids. make the process go faster by making up a schedule for your puppy to adhere to. Take the puppy out at the same times daily so that the puppy becomes familiar with a schedule.

If you aren’t home during the day, you can anticipate accidents while you puppy is learning to potty train. You can aleviate this some by laying down newspapers for your dog to go potty on, but it will take training for the puppy to understand this is not to be used as a matter of course. When accidents happen (and they will), don't get angry - just tidy up and disinfect the area.

You can learn to see ahead of time some of the signals that your puppy needs to be taken to potty. When you notice your puppy acting in this way, it should be time to let him out.

These are signs that a puppy needs to go potty:

* Your puppy is restless
* Puppy is sniffing around a place they had previously soiled
* Your puppy is whining and wimpering
* Distracted at play

Puppies are unique, you will soon learn to spot the signals in your puppy. If your puppy starts to exhibit this potty sign it is time to take them out for a walk and show them to go in the location you want them to use.

When your puppy does well, remember to praise him. Praise reinforces to the puppy that they have been good and will make them eager to do it again to get more positive encouragement.

Although potty training your puppy can be difficult, it is just a matter of being dilligent and patient with your new puppy long enough for their minds and bodies to grow up and stick to your training. With patience and time, your puppy will potty train and problems will be a part of the past.
