Smart Promotional Products For Smart Businesses

By: Gen Wright

There are many different ways to promote your business. Some ways are considered smarter than others simply because they yield better results. You can promote your business on TV, sponsor events, give away free gifts, or simply have custom made stationery. The choice is yours. And how shall you choose?

If your business is small and growing, focus on any one promotional method at any one time. For instance, if you have decided to organize road shows, then focus your time, energy and resources on road shows. You will have a better chance of succeeding. But bear in mind that no promotional method lasts forever. The business climate is constantly changing and what works before may not work now. So be adaptable, and be ready to accept change.

Adapting to changing is about having a long term promotion strategy. By that, we mean having several channels promoting your company. When you have various promotional methods, a single method that fails will not affect you adversely. Perhaps it may cause you some slight inconveniences, but in the long run, you will still stand to benefit from the various promotional activities.

But whatever method you choose to promote your business, it has to eventually lead to more business for your organization.

One way to actively promote your business is to give away gifts. As human beings, we all like to receive gifts, and gifts bring back fond memories of whoever gave us those gifts. So if the gifts come from you, with your company message on it, chances are they will remember you better. The next time they see your products on the shelves, the will be more willing to give you their support.

But the central theme about this article is being smart. So be smart: give away gifts to target prospects or customers only. Don't throw good money away by giving away gifts freely to non-qualified prospects. For all you know, they may not even appreciate your kind gesture.

As an example, let's say you have a few repeat customers who always come back to buy from you. Would you reward them with more gifts just to keep them? Or would you rather spend the money on someone who has very little chance of buying from you? Of course anyone would choose to reward their good customers. Many business owners make this mistakes. They do not pay enough attention to their good customers, so they eventually lose those customers to their competitors. So shower them with attention, and shower them with gifts, and keep them close to you.

When you send them personalized items like mugs, stationery or even T-shirts, they are constantly reminded of you. This is good for you because by giving away gifts, you are building a strong relationship with your customers. Never underestimate the good will generated by even the smallest of gifts. After all, everyone understands that when it comes to gifts, it's the thought that counts. If you think about your customers constantly, they will return the favor and think of you when they need your products and services.

So be smart and promote your business by sending gifts, no matter how small, to your closest customers and make a lot more money.
