Survivor Reality TV Show - Big Premier

By: Sherry Stone

Location, location, location! Once again CBS Survivor reality TV show picks the most fascinating, obscure location. Gabon, Africa, also called "The Last Eden" is located on the west coast of central Africa. It is actually on the equator with 85% of the country covered by rain forest. It makes for a striking backdrop for the latest installment of the Survivor saga.
The Survivor reality TV Show decided to start with a two hour season premier, which means that two tribe members were voted off on the first night. Both members came from the Fang tribe which already appears to be severely outmatched. They lost three out of three challenges and are already down two players to what appears to be a much stronger Kota tribe.
The first player voted out was Michelle. With only one friend she seemed to have no interest in her tribe, calling them "the dumbest people on earth". She was an easy target for the first Tribal Counsel. The second person voted out, and possibly the loudest snorer, was 61 year old Gillian. The tribe felt that Gillian was the weakest member of the tribe after having to push her up a hill on the first challenge.
Dan was the first member sent to the infamous exile island. Survivor has added another new twist this season in offering exile island visitors a choice between a more luxurious stay and the opportunity to search for the hidden immunity idol. Unfortunately, Dan chose to search for the hidden idol with no success.
Randy, a 49 year old Wedding Videographer, was the first injury of the season. He hit his head in the dark of night and had to call in the medical support team to look at the resulting cut. The injury produced a lot of blood and required some stitches but doesn't appear as though it will affect Randy's standing in the game unless it gets infected.
The first formal alliance of the game was formed between Charlie, a 29 year old lawyer from New York and Marcus, a 28 year old doctor from Atlanta. Charlie immediately formed a crush along with the alliance; it will be interesting to see how that plays out. 25 Year old Jacquie and 29 year old Corrine also joined the "onion" alliance before the end of the episode.
The first evening started out with the usual confusion over who would be a leader and who was just bossy. Adding plenty of bickering, alliance building, and people showing skin, it should be another fascinating season for Survivor fans.
