The Causes of Dermatitis

By: David Clinton

The main causes of dermatitis are not well understood and remain the focus of intense research. It is shown in the current research that it develops due to interactions between the environment, our immune system, and genetics. The immune systems of sufferers of this condition are very sensitive and they are more likely to react to various irritants and allergens. Most people who suffer from dermatitis have a number of relatives with allergic conditions. A genetic predisposition can be aggravated by factors such as infections, food allergies, temperature, irritating chemicals, stress and humidity. under conditions of extreme humidity and temperature, dermatitis will often flare-up. Sweating and high levels of stress are also sources of dermatitis break-outs.

Other causes of dermatitis are irritations. It apparently has the capacity to alter the epidermal structure by allowing immunoglobulin E activity to rise. Even after the exposure to an allergen has ended or even after it has been completely controlled, the ongoing skin irritation will consequently continue.

Causes of Dermatitis Unknown

Because the primary causes of dermatitis are still unknown, several theories attempt to explain its pathogenesis. Causes of dermatitis most likely represent more than one condition.

Underlying metabolic and biochemical factors suggests that induced skin disorder is genetically linked to elevated serum immunoglobulin E levels and is one main theory regarding the causes of dermatitis while defective T-cell function is the other theory.

Triggers of dermatitis may involve a number of health conditions, genetic factors, allergies, and irritants, mental and physical stresses. Working under wet conditions is one of the main causes of dermatitis. Direct contact with one of many irritants or allergens results to contact dermatitis.

A variety of substances may cause dermatitis to develop in different people and allergic reactions appear to be genetically determined. Burns and sunburns can also increase the risk of developing dermatitis. The process and causes of dermatitis are much clearer these days, but too little is known about what makes people vulnerable to allergic dermatitis.

The 3 Primary Varieties of Dermatitis

The 3 primary types of dermatitis are contact irritant, contact allergy, and atopic. These all have differing triggers, although some are similar. Atopic dermatitis is a genetic disorder associated with environmental factors. Unfortunately, little is known what makes people vulnerable to allergic dermatitis. On the occasion that a highly reactive chemical substance makes direct contact with the skin, allergic contact dermatitis ensues. Nummular dermatitis is something that occurs in cold weather and is typical among people with dry skin. The primary factors of all these are still unknown.
