The Importance of a Barbecue Grill

By: Pinkie Towne

If you have a backyard and an outside patio you will most probably own a barbecue grill. The barbecue grill is more important that anything else around the house. It's mans territory, no woman is allowed to even try to grill meat. Cooking meat on an open flame satisfies the caveman part of the brain.

The smell of the meat on the fire is enough to make anyone hungry.

A barbecue grill comes in many shapes and sizes. Small grills that can be placed on a table can cost very little and they work just the same as the big ones.

You will find large stainless steel models that cost over two thousand dollars. The basic function of a barbeque grill is to cook meat. But, some have so many other accessories and additions that they look ready to take off and fly. Some grills also come attached with smoker accessories so the unit can accomplish more than just grilling.

There are grills in all shapes and sizes available that will fit in with not with the taste but also with their needs. Something to consider when shopping for a grill is: What size grill will fit into and function in your available area? There are so many sizes available, from ones that can take two pieces of meat, to larger ones that can cater for an entire party of guests.

The kind of meat you are cooking doesn't really matter, be it pork, fish, chicken or beef. Meat flavors can be improved in many different ways. You can choose from many different sauces in which to marinated the meat overnight to add the desired taste. I bet when you put a properly marinated steak on a barbeque, you mouth is already watering.

You can spice the meat while it is cooking. There are many spices available to the customer. Some even mix spices together designed for each type of meat.

Watch out for flare-ups because they can singe and ruin the meat. Every barbecue grill has a lid. When cooking meat that drips often, keeping the lid closed while cooking will stop the flare up.

Even though a closed lid will reduce flar-ups, you still have to keep an eye on it. Don't just walk away. It's important to know how long to cook a particular kind of meat to the tenderness that you desire. You don't want meat to be underdone and then blushingly having to fire up the barbeque again.

Keep a sharp knife ready to check how cooked the meat is. Having a good idea of the time needed to properly barbeque a piece of meat goes a long way towards a successful barbeque. Overcooked meat doesn't only look aweful, it tastes bad as well.
