The Life of Desiree Cousteau

Desiree Cousteau was a very prominent pornographic actress and was most popular in the seventies and eighties. She hails from Savannah, Georgia and was born with the name Deborah Clearbranch in 1956. Cousteau had dreams of being a big name actress in the seventies and tried for years to turn her dreams into reality. She got a bit part in a 1974 film that never took off and it was then that she realized that her career as a mainstream actress would never materialize into what she had hoped for. Desiree quickly found herself attracted to the burgeoning world of adult films and this is where she was really able to make a name for herself.

Desiree Cousteau was a southern belle at heart and for this, she was always thought of very fondly in the adult film industry in the seventies and eighties. Cousteau was known for being one of the few porn stars who had a natural body, including her breasts. She had an absolutely beautiful face and spectacular body at a time when women were consistently surgically enhancing their bodies. She brought an endearing type of charm to a profession that was otherwise thought of as gritty and dirty. She had a very free spirit and it shown through in every one of her roles as she plunged into her sexual performances with rapacious abandon. In 1975 she was voted Best Adult Film Actress for which she was very proud. There are two films that Desiree Cousteau is most well known for: Pretty Peaches and Inside Desiree Cousteau.

Pretty Peaches is about a carefree and whimsical girl who always looks at the bright side of everything. After attending her fathers wedding, she has a car accident that leaves her unconscious. Two men find her and take advantage of their good fortune, but then they come to find out that she has amnesia. The rest of the movie is about the ridiculous circumstances that arise while she is trying to get her memory back. This film won Desiree Cousteau adult film awards and really substantiated her spot in the industry. Inside Desiree Cousteau was a semi autobiographical film and she is probably best remembered for this role.

Her post career life is something that is debated by many, but most people believe that she was a practicing child psychologist in her home state of Georgia. Other stories include that she got married, settled down and started a family. Desiree Cousteau was a very important figure in the seventies and eighties and her legacy still remains in the adult film industry today.
