The gene that protects us from cancer

By: Dynamic Blue Link

A gene may protect its carrier against a variety of cancers, based on a new research.

Two variants of the B-MYB gene carried by up to 50% of the world's population are found less often in people living with cancer, the journal Nature reports.

The Institute of Child Health's Dr Arturo Sala claimed it might well show to be a "key player" in cancer.

A charity named Cancer Research UK claimed that further tests will likely verify how it will likely help curb the cancerous development.

Other research had already shown B-MYB having a role in the development of the disease.

It has been found to be over-active in a number of different cancers.

The newest analysis tested close to 400 people being treated for cancer with either colon cancer, a brain tumour dubbed neuroblastoma, or chronic myeloid leukaemia.

Their version of the B-MYB gene was tested and tested against the versions found in 230 "controls" - volunteers with no known cancer.

Cancer patients can find useful advice and resources to help to deal with symptoms of their ailment at The Blog of Herbs while another resource of information is available about constipation relief and body cleansing solutions.
