Google, we all know is the best search engine as far as we know. It is the fastest and by far the most accurate when it comes to searching. Google is not only providing us with the best search engines, but also a wide range of its products, when it comes to emailing (Gmail), or communicating (Gtalk), or socializing (Orkut) or if you have to publish your pictures online via Picassa, or upload a video using youtube. There are many services provided by google to us, but what is the best google known for, its first a search engine.

If you type any query, you can see pages and pages of the related result pages being displayed. Sometimes these searches can be so tedious that going through all of them at once, seems next to impossible. Although nobody bothers to check the latter matter, once they have got the relevant matter at the first page itself. But have you ever thought, that what if the information which we are searching for, has been collated in some of the last pages of its search. This may sound creepy to you, but then is it impossible? I say, maybe it is possible, but then who cares because we would have already found the best information in the first few pages of the search.

So basically our search is somehow narrowed to first few pages of the search, or to be more precise, to the higher ranking searches in the first, second, or at the maximum the third page. After that, you will just get either a repetition of the links or there will be hardly any relevant information (needed by you) in those pages. The pages which you think are irrelevant, may not be of use to you, but they may surely be of use to somebody else.

So how do we make sure that when that somebody else needs that page, it will be displayed on a higher rank so that the other person knows its there. Well its simple, because, the search engines do not fix a particular order in which they will display the order of sites. But instead they go through the entire database, scans for the best possible result and then return the unique pages. At the first page, they put all the related sites and URLs which are solely related to our query. Word to word matching of the query is done, and the related information is checked, if it is a dedicated site for that particular query, then that site is given the highest priority, otherwise, it is listed in the lower order for the fact that the keyword (from the query) appeared on its page.

The information which is retuned to the user, is not only in the form of URLs, but it varies from a range of textual information, to presentations, to scholarly articles, research papers, books, e-books, images, videos, audio and many more. So in order to take your webpage to the higher ranking in google, make the page more informative with the topic it is based on. We can include the textual information, as well as images, videos, audios etc. The best possible way for a website to occur on the higher order is to include the presentation slides (PPT slides), and research papers, some e-books, and every bit of information related to that topic. That is surely going to put your site on the top of the google search list.
