Do you believe in energy? Is there a form of energy flowing everywhere? There are quite a few studies made about all sorts of energies actually. One of those studies is called art of Feng Shui. Ancient Chinese way of life is an inspiration to a lot of people and mere superstition to others. Both East and West practice Feng Shui with a lot of interest these days. The guidelines have an effect on each aspect of life for individuals who believe in it. Lately, the New Age society was influenced by elements such as wind chimes and crystals. The core of the philosophy is the energy flow or lack of it. The flow is dictated by how objects are placed in relation to each others and has a positive or negative force on the environment. Relationships, finance and health are affected by the quality of the energy. Many people arrange the contents of their homes, following the rules and recommendations of FengShui. Different rooms in the home have different needs and they have to be treated in a different way. The bedroom should have just one door and the bed must not be placed in between the window and the door as this could result in troubled sleep. The bed should be made of wood and people should be facing the door and sleep at least 45cm above the floor. Mirrors and pictures of wild animals or water should be avoided. The windows should be draped by thik curtains and the walls should be painted in red, blue or green shades. In the kitchen, the cooker and sink should not be adjacent as the proximity of water and fire can be conflictual. Cookers should be placed in the south corner, the room must have a wide entry and microwaves are not suggested. FengShui is also applied to living rooms and dining rooms. There must be at least one wall without a window and the walls should be painted in bright colors. Elements that bring luck include mirrors to reflect food on the table, the hanging of family pictures and television sets or hi-fi systems that stand at the west wall. Even the powder room has guidelines. To keep out negative energy, the toilet lid and door must be kept closed. The room must always be clean and having plants and pictures in there brings bad luck. Stairs must be brightly lit as a dark stairway can bring negative energy. Good luck will fall through open stairs and confusion will be brought by a spiral staircase. Entrance halls should also be brightly lit but be painted in muted colors. They should be warm and can be decorated with water features or plants. It's fun to test Feng Shui and see its affects, if any. If you ask me the best way to advance in life is to have an open mind.
