Many Americans are a bit befuddled by this "credit score" thing; they don't always understand what it is or how it's used. Are you in the dark when it comes to credit scores? Then read on! Your credit worthiness depends on your credit score. There is a very important question you should be asking yourself: "What is my credit score?" You want to be able to answer this question if you want to apply for a loan or a line of credit.

But what if you're in the black list due to your credit score being so poor? Then for the next five years, you won't be able to get credit of any sort in any part of the world. That's why you are absolutely right to be curious about your credit score. It's important to review it yearly.

Once a year, you can obtain your credit report from various credit reporting agencies. This is a free service. You can also turn to the many accounts and financial advisors that can assist you. With their help, you can better appreciate how your credit score works. They can also give you some great pointers on how to get and maintain a good score.

'What is my credit score?' is a question you'll want to answer every year, because it's the single most important factor in your financial life.
