Sports & Recreation Safety for Children
Sports have become an integral part of children’s lives. In fact, over 30 million children play sports that range from baseball to tennis to soccer today. Sports are unique, as they allow kids to obtain admiration and recognition, by using their natural talents. Youngsters tend to excel at sports because it requires qualities that tend to symbolize youthfulness. These include ingenuity, coordination, awareness, speed, and vision. However, like their other activities, children should remain safe when involved in sports and recreation. Taking steps such as posting Children at Play signs and Child Safety Signs in designated areas can help to achieve this goal.
Child Safety Tip for Playing Outdoors
One summer day, Jack and Janet, brother and sister, were happily playing soccer in their front yard. Then Jack accidentally kicked the ball wide. It shot past Janet, into the street. Janet ran through the yard and across the sidewalk, to retrieve the ball that bounced towards the opposite sidewalk. Then Janet remembered to look left and right before crossing the street. She stopped at the curb when suddenly…ZOOM! A car bolted by, missing her by inches. Jack’s and Janet’s parents soon petitioned the local government to post children at play signs in the area. They were installed within a month, to help protect children at play.
After School Safety Tips
Like their parents’ daily routine, a day at school can be hectic for children. After the final school bell rings, children have various ways of relaxing. Some enjoy playing after school sports, such as basketball or soccer. Other students like outdoor hobbies such as skateboarding or photography. Still other students prefer to stay at home and watch TV, play video games, or surf the net. However, regardless of how children spend their time after school, different means such as child safety products from a child safety store, can help to assure children’s safety.
